Croke Park is more than just a
stadium, it’s about bringing people together through passion, culture and identity. The GAA is Ireland’s largest
reporting organisation, representing our unique national games of
Hurling and Football. It is at the heart of every community in Ireland, intertwined with our identity, history and culture.
Experience Match Day on a unique level with Ross Carr and DJ Kane.
Former Down manager and two-time All-Ireland winner Ross Carr played club football for Clonduff for many decades and comes from a proud footballing tradition. He made his competitive debut for Down coming on as a sub against Galway in the National League fixture during the 1983/84 campaign. Ross played his last game for the county team after seventeen successful years in the midfield/forward line position. Yet his County career did not end there. He has since played for the Down over 40’s and was the manager of the Down Minor Team and Senior football team.
The 1994 All-Ireland winning captain DJ Kane played Gaelic Football for 44 years with his local club Newry Mitchel’s later moving on to play for Newry Shamrocks, simultaneously playing on the county team from the 1980’s until the 90’s. The wing half back believes the GAA is a ‘way of life’. A tradition and culture where you are able to grow and develop as a person on and off the pitch. It is a community of like minded people who will be there for you no matter where you travel. After DJ’S competitive days, he took his experience and knowledge of the game pitch side - where he assisted Ross Carr in managing the Down County Panel from 2006 -2009.
